Authorities arrested a second Miramonte Elementary School teacher last week after allegations surfaced against him during the investigation into the Mark Berndt scandal. Martin Bernard Springer, 49, was arrested and removed from his teaching position at Miramonte after two former students told investigators that he had fondled them three years ago while they were students in his class.
The arrest triggered protests by parents.
Springer has been transferred to a non-student contact position until a decision is made by officials. School board officials will vote today on whether Springer will keep his position. Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy has stated that he plans to vote to fire Springer.
