Diabetic Testing Strips Must Be Recalled in California

Nearly 360 different diabetic testing strips from Abbott Laboratories are being recalled because the strips do not function properly. They may indicate an artificially low blood sugar level that is inaccurate, or a low level that masks elevated glucose levels. KMPH has more on the story:

The test strips are not able to absorb enough blood for monitoring. Strips exposed to warm weather or long-term storage may be more likely to give off a false result.

The recalled test strips were manufactured between January and September 2010 and were sold online and at different stores. They were also used in health care facilities.

The following brand names are being recalled:

Precision Xceed Pro
Precision Xtra
Medisense Optium
Optium
OptiumEZ
ReliOn Ultima
