Families Reach Settlement in ICE Car Crash Lawsuit

The Department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has reached a settlement with the families of three women who died in an accident caused by ICE agent Cole Dotson. The families of Sandra Garcia, Maria Nieto, and Patricia Reyes will receive $11 million, one of the largest settlements for a case of this type. The accident occurred while Agent Dotson was on duty. He is facing prosecution for vehicular manslaughter, another first. Federal agents are not usually liable for deaths that occur while on duty.
