Family of Injured Six-Year-Old Files Claim

The family of Seth Richardson filed a claim of $500,000 with Huntington Beach City after he was severely burned as a result of a fall into a beach fire pit.

Seth Richardson fell backward into the smoldering fire pit April 17 while flying a kite at the beach, attorney Rob Gibson told the Huntington Beach Independent. Gibson is representing Seth and his father, Jason Richardson.

The family filed a claim Aug. 10, holding the city responsible for Seth’s injuries. Gibson said the city failed to properly maintain and monitor the fire pit.

“I think the pits need to be properly maintained, they need to be cleaned out, and the pits need to be replaced,” Gibson said. [Source]
