A judge ruled that Anthony Arevalos, the former San Diego police officer charged with 21 felony counts, will stand trial for sexual battery by restraint and assault, among other things. Judge John Einhorn ruled that prosecutors “presented sufficient evidence for Arevalos to be tried on all but one of the charges.” [Source] Allegations of misconduct go back to August 2008 but that charge was dismissed because of insufficient evidence.
One of the victims gave compelling testimony of sexual assault after she failed a breathalyzer test. It is unclear how these charges will affect other cases that involve arrests made by Arevalos. 15 cases have already been dismissed.
